Harriet as Discussion Director
After seeing in her interview how well-spoken she was, I placed Harriet in a group of high achievers hoping that their achievements would boost her own motivation to meet them at their level. I thought she had the ability to rise to the challenge, and she did. What I was not expecting was for her group mates to slack off. It turned out that these students were high achievers when it came to working independently, but they were not the most social of learners. As a result their "discussions" ended up being four people sitting in silence and writing down their own thoughts. Harriet got a good grade because she created strong open-ended questions, but I had to deduct a few points because she did not succeed at the part of her job that required her to keep the discussion going.
